Piano Lessons for Adults - Piano Classes for Working Adults Singapore
The piano is a versatile musical instrument that covers many genres of music. It makes up the melody, a key part of any song or music piece. Classical music, pop, and contemporary styles are all easily covered by a classical piano or keyboard instrument. At our music school, we offer both group lesson and individual music lessons for the piano.
Is it too late to start having piano lessons as an adult?
It's never too late to start learning a new music instrument. The piano can be a good musical instrument to pick up whenever you want to take your mind off work and relieve stress. Piano classes can also increase your confidence level after a short time when you are comfortable with the musical instrument and take on one song after another.
What will the lesson plan for piano lessons be?
In some music schools, music education can be strict and teachers teach a standardized curriculum, to all of their students. However, at King George's Music Academy, the lesson plan largely depends on what the student would like to achieve when taking piano lessons. For a start, our piano teacher will assess your skill level in the musical instrument before coming out with the lesson plan for you for a more structured learning process. We strongly believe that no two students should have the same learning process.
For students who are beginners with no music background, our piano teacher will touch on basic note-reading, music theory, building finger strength, and playing simple pieces with them to build a strong music foundation before moving on to more high-level techniques. This is where we aim to build up the confidence level in our piano students so that they won't be afraid to tackle new pieces and piano techniques in the more advanced stages of mastering the piano.
When of a higher level, students will begin to tackle harder pieces and strengthen their sight-readings skills. The lesson plan will revolve around what the student aims to achieve. A student who is aiming for a Grade 8 in Piano will have a different lesson plan from a student who is aiming to become a skilled musician!
Is it possible to learn the piano without going for piano exams?
Advanced students can choose to take graded music exams, such as Trinity Rock and Pop for contemporary piano, or ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). Our qualified teachers will guide them through the exam preparation process and improve their sight-reading, music theory, and their piano playing. For the piano grading exams, our piano teachers will prepare the students for both the Practical exam and the theory exam. For a different piano experience, some adult students prefer to set their own learning pace and proceed to learn advanced playing skills without taking exams. It makes for a different learning experience and it's completely up to you!A small group of serious students might even choose to take the path of becoming a professional musician! Our experienced teachers, some of them who are seasoned musicians themselves who have performances outside of teaching, will groom them to become a performer with a strong foundation piano and keyboard skills.
